Covering Climate Now

Identity Update, Website, Illustration, Collateral

Covering Climate Now (CCNow) collaborates with journalists and newsrooms to produce more informed and urgent climate stories, to make climate a part of every newsroom, and to drive a public conversation that creates an engaged public. Co-founded by the Columbia Journalism Review and The Nation in association with The Guardian, and WNYC in 2019, Covering Climate Now’s 460-plus partners include some of the biggest names in news, and some of the smallest.

The original logo was updated to correct for minor spatial-tension issues—and an additional horizontal lockup was added to the identity, along with a defined brand palette based on breakpoints in the logo’s color gradient. Typography for CCNow was updated to include a tall x-height screen-optimized sans-serif for general use—reserving the logo’s bold serif for headlines and display.

A fully redesigned website serves as a resource hub and sharing library for journalists. It’s also the home of the CCNow Journalism Awards, which honors journalists producing the strongest coverage of the climate emergency.
